JSawyer.esp - v5.1

A helpful modder going by the handle xporc graciously addressed some issues in my mod that I was having trouble resolving.  After some back-and-forth to fix some display issues, JSawyer v5.1 is ready.

Here's a high-level overview of what's substantively changed:

* Hardcore (H2O/FOD/SLP) thresholds have been set to 400/550/700/850/1000 as originally intended for the mod.  The HUD indicators now match this.  However, because all "Hardcore" HUD indicators flip over at the same values, this means we had to change the Radiation thresholds (and Rad Child) to match.  This means you can go a little bit longer before suffering ill effects from Radiation, but since the Hardcore acquisition rates are all faster than normal, I think players will still be doing more maintenance overall.
* A bunch of dirty edits I had previously made have been cleaned up.
* Various oversights have been fixed (details in the readme).

N.B.: Some of these fixes may not appear if you replace the mod for a game in progress.

As always, it is available here:

Thanks to xporc for his help with these problems.  I will be using v5.1 as the starting point for a future v6 (if it is needed).

The files inside the 5.1 zip have the exact same date and time as the files in the 5.0.

Hi Josh! Since you continue to work on your mod will not do you plan to do some stats more useful(such as Charisma)?

Thanks again for your dedication Sawyer.

I must say Mr. Sawyer you did a damn fine job with your mod, I haven't encountered a single problem using it and it makes the game last much longer and makes playing on hardcore even on the Normal difficulty quite intense.

I actually encountered a problem with implant grx rank 1. It still gives me 5 doses a day instead of 2. Nonetheless I love your mod. Thank you very much for rounding New Vegas!

Thank you for dedication. Still ı wonder would you make some dramatic changes with food healing. If you're playing hard-core food items heal much more better than stims. They're so better survival skill makes medicine useless. Survival already have many good features for hard-core, being best healing skill should't be one of them.

So wait, what really is the difference between the Power Armor sound template vs the Heavy armor sound template? Though I did notice that I no longer have the cool bullet ricochet noises whenever I get shot... ;_;

Awesome mod....Revitalized the game for me and made it a challenge...Any chance of an extra perk every 5 levels or something, as a balance counter for the loss of 15 levels with the new level 35 cap, theres so many perks to choose from. no bigdeal just an idea, thanks mate, looking forward to FO4. Thumbs up

Hi, just wanted to ask if anyone has trouble with the new armors added? For me the armors do not show up on any of the vendors. They show on the previous mods but on v5.1 they disappeared. Been looking around the web for a solution but can't find any.

i had the same problem after a few weeks i think it was, i really wasn't counting but after long enough for me to get to Vegas Freeside completing most side quests on the way.. so i guess about half way through the game not counting DLC....all the extra armour from this mod suddenly disappeared from the Novac vendors list...only solution i had was to reload a save and buy it all before it disappeared....and yes expensive lol.

Hi, I have correctly installed your mod (with FOMM & BOSS) and must I always launch game by Mod Manager or can I launch the game simply by Fallout.exe ? Thanks.

You will always need to load the game through a load order manager.

Thanks for answer. Your mod is making gameplay much better, Thanks for Your work with it.

And it's most playable at Very Hard with Hardcore mode. Thanks one more time. Great work.

I've never had to use a load order manager, mostly because I dont mod my game like crazy eheh..

Great Mod. Thank you!!

Thanks dude.

Mr. Sawyer, excuse my begging but I think you are in an unique position to make this happen. Please pretty please can we have an "iron man" or "one life" mode?

It would be a dream come true for so many of us looking for that ultimate FNV experience.

Nothing ridiculous but well JSawyer.esp v5.1 gonna be final? or there gonna be an updates?

I've noticed a small issue, all the power armors have had their "Power Armor" flag removed, meaning that anyone can wear it without training.

WDeranged said...

Ah, apologies, I just spotted that the power armor flag removal was intentional.

You still get 5 implants/10 implants for GRX implants perks, leaving it as ridiculously overpowered compared to other nerfed traits.

I know how to fix this but I'm conflicted as to if I have to because the perk is so good. lol

I fixed the implant GRX perk bug(it was same as vanilla) and uploaded on nexus.

The perk made my game unplayablely easy ;_; Maybe you could upload 5.2 with the fix so new players don't experience the same problem?

By the way, this mod is really great. I think F:NV should have come out with Jsawyer mod as base. It's not really hardcore; it feels much more balanced and 'right'. compared to F:NV vanilla.

You are making POE; I hope you used the same feel of balance in that game as in Jsawyer mod.

This is an amazing mod. Hopefully you continue to update it when you have time.

I am about finished with a run and would like to post a detailed review of the mod somewhere that can help people decide if its something that they would be into. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm on gamefaqs as IanArcad - go to my profile and you can see that although I'm new I really know the game. I'm extremely appreciative of the mod and recommend it for at least one run to anybody who's already finished the game on HC/VH.

@"iron man"

Just delete your saved game whenever you die. Not that friggin' hard.

I read that the level cap was 35 and that Logan's Loophole was originally 20. I did a quick calculation and found that 21 would be exactly like the 30:50 ratio it was before. This drove me crazy until I found that you later changed it to 21 because it fitted with the reference. Brilliantly done.
